Applications of Embedded Computers
When we hear about a newly-introduced technology, the first few things that we want to know are the things that the technology offers and the applications where we could utilize them. When we hear the word Touch Screen, we would easily say that it is for a more convenient display technology to address what is lacking in an ordinary monitor. However, if I say embedded systems, do you know where these are applied?
An Embedded Computer is a special computer, designed to perform a specific task where it is impractical to use a whole computer. Computers may be costly and this could be trimmed down if we reduce the size and eliminate certain features which are irrelevant for our intended application. Making the functionality of embedded computers led to a smaller, more simplified and cheaper technology for the different applications.
Among the long list of applications where embedded systems are deemed important are telecommunication systems which come in the form of telephone switches for mobile phones networking to the end users and computer networking that involve routers, that usually in function in 2.4 GHz frequency; and household appliances that apart from our knowledge have embedded systems such as washing machines and microwave ovens.
